The Tenderloin has been the heart of Arab San Francisco since the 1960s, home to the largest Yemeni community in Northern California alongside Palestinian, Jordanian, Egyptian, Syrian, and Moroccan communities, and to St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church (est. 1937), the city's first Arabic-speaking church.
